This is my favorite day of the trip. I got to meet a wonderful local Chinese family in Chongqing. They took us to the supermarket and let us pick out the ingredients. They cooked us traditional Chinese food and we ate like a family. Then I went and met an inspiring Tibetan woman whose story is phenomenal. She taught us about her culture and how to make Tibetan jewelry that she designed herself. She is mentioned within the Smithsonian Museum and in articles around the world. We spent over two hours with her and it was not enough. I just wanted to keep learning from her. Then the students set up a BBQ for us to end the night!

We had a busy day! First, we went to class and learned about the Mongolian culture and language by a native of Mongolia. She was inspirational and lovely to meet. Then we handmade our own dumplings! We even cooked them! We are our hard work and it was delicious! Then we played baseball with the university team, friendly competition and intermingling our languages was super fun! Finally, we all went to opening day which is a day for the students families to come and visit. We all had a party!

My first day of travel was long, but beautiful. The airplane ride was seventeen hours long. The airports were pretty in Beijing and Chongqing. The Chongqing University students met us at the entrance of the school to greet us. That is when I met my roommates who were so nice and helpful. They helped me carry my bags to the room, but since it was so late when we arrived we just talked for a moment before heading to bed. I felt bad because I was sick on the airplane and on the bus ride so I could not concentrate well. I apologized for my inconvenience. In the end, it was a great way to be welcomed to Chongqing University.

Today, we took a tour of Chongqing University. It is a beautiful place to see. There are a lot of trees, many hills, and a lot of sports facilities. My favorite part was when we got to sit outside at the old wooden tables and drink tea. We all talked, laughed, and took a picture. Then we decided to go shopping and we got souvenirs for our families. But, the last thing we did academically was go to an abacus class. A teacher taught us how to use an abacus. I bought one for my friend as a gift and I am going to teach her because it was so much fun!
